Not much new at the Long Beach Motorcycle show to announce. There were a several brands featuring their bikes in riding demos. Unfortunately I got there too late and was only able to test ride the Can-am Spyder.

SCKF Kendo Shinsa
Our dojo attended the SCKF shinsa last weekend. I passed the exam and now 1-kyu rank. Just 1 rank away from getting my blackbelt.
Updated: My friend got a video of one of my matches. I'm in the blue uniform. This is my first of 2 matches

Pirate Days
Recently did pirate days in Catalina. Been pretty lazy since the trip as I've been catching up on my work both my work work and my homework. I'll post some pics later.
What I like about Catalina's pirate days is it's a total immersion. You pretty much have a whole pirate day, not just a couple hours in a park with people dressed like pirates and go home like you would at a Renaissance fair.
Update: Posted pics
For the last 3 years we've been running the Hoosegow tug of war games since the kids activities have been scaled down.
At night it's time for the grown up pirates to party.
Captain Morgan @ the costume contest.
Other well dressed pirates

MS Bike Ride - 9/20/08
I did the MS Bike Ride to help spread awareness of multiple sclerosis.
http://www.bikems.org/
I thought it was a fun ride. We rode along the Santa Barbara and Monteceito beaches then I followed some people who got lost and rode along the back roads along the 229. Instead of doing the 30 miles I was signed up for, I wound up doing the 75 miles as I followed the people doing the 75 mile ride 1/2 way on their trail, then ride back to join the 30 mile trail. That was the hardest workout my legs every had. Here are some pics.

People Magazine Red Carpet Run
I did the People Magazine Red Carpet Run over the weekend.
I think it's a fun little 3 mile / 1.5 mile walk (I did the run). Well organized, however this was geared towards having fun and less competitive (they didn't even have a timer). We ran through the alleyways behind the backlots, didn't run through any movie sets though.
The finish line was a red carpet where you can do a glam pose in your sweating running clothes. Anyways, here are a couple pictures. I couldn't really take any pictures while running.
After the run, there was a concert by michelle williams

Watching AVP here in Santa Barbara over the weekend.
Here's me with the 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Rogers/Dauhauser in the background playing.
1/2 Olympic women's team gold medalist Kerry Welsh going up for the block against Mason.
Rogers/Dauhauser going up against Holdren/Strickland (Holdren was in the 2004 olympics) One of the best games of beach volleyball I've ever seen.
Rogers/Dauhauser receiving the key to the city from our Mayor. Rogers/Dauhauser are our local heros here in the Santa Barbara area.
